On April 25th, 2026, Cole Allen, 31 years old, tried to assassinate Donald Trump. He invaded the Correspondents Association dinner at the White House, as well as the gala they were having.
Allen was found carrying a handgun, shotgun, and three knives. He got charged with two firearm offences, which led to him going to court on Monday. While he was getting questioned, he seemed calm and answered all questions with no problems. However, if Cole was found guilty, he would have life in prison.
As he was trying to shoot Trump, he ended up shooting a service officer. A BBC article said, “One secret service officer was shot in the chest, but was wearing a ballistic vest that worked.” They still aren’t completely sure if Allen shot him, but he’s still getting multiple charges. As of today, the officer was released from the hospital.
Allen got charged for more than one thing: He was charged for transportation of a firearm between states and discharging of a firearm; both are sentences of 10 years.
Cole Allen said, “I would still go through everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary.” Although he pretended not to do anything, he has no guilt for what he did or tried to do.
The people that were investigating found what his whole plan consisted of. He went from LA to Chicago to Washington. The night before the event, he checked into the Hilton. When he arrived the next day, he alerted White House security when he stormed into the dinner. Trump was quickly escorted out when they heard gunshots.
On Thursday, Allen will be back in court. Although not found guilty yet, he’s pretty close since the evidence matches up fully. The case is still under investigation and has been a popular topic for weeks now.
