ICE agents left a man’s 13-year old daughter and 15-year old son alone unsupervised. The son and daughter’s names are not mentioned, likely because they are minors. This took place in Franklin Township, early March 2026. The father of these children was driving his kids to school when he was pulled over by ICE agents. They asked him to roll down his window, but as the man reached into his wallet to provide identification, they took him out of the vehicle and arrested him in front of his children. He was then put into a separate car. His 15-year old son had taken a video on his cell phone of the events that took place that day.
When the officers questioned and discovered they were both underage, they were told to call their mother for a ride home, and drove away before anyone arrived.
“I understand that I’m 15-years old,” he started, “I still don’t think it’s right to leave unattended minors,” he told News 12. The U.S Department of Homeland security officials told News 12 that they could not find a record of the arrest.
Advocates pointed out that leaving minors unattended violates ICE’s detained parents directive, which orders ICE agents to consider the welfare of children when arresting parents. This series is part of a broader series reported in 2025 and 2026. Therefore, it is unclear when exactly this incident occurred.
It’s been confirmed that, in the past, ICE agents have left children alone. A 6-year old girl’s family said that she was left behind in an apartment after her father was detained in Morristown.
Both the 13 year old girl and 15-year old boy are U.S. citizens, News 12 reported. However, the family is planning to self deport to Mexico with their father, who was still being detained on Friday.
