The federal authorities have ramped up a case where 3 Dearborn men were allegedly involved in a Halloween terror plot.
Apparently, they stockpiled weapons to use in a terror attack, and conspired to help the Islamic State terrorist group (Transnational Sunni Islamist Insurgent and Designated Terrorist Group) by committing themselves to the overseas organization. Then the FBI raided two Dearborn homes and an Inkster storage facility, preventing what they allege was a plan to carry out a terrorist attack over Halloween weekend. The two potential targets included bars and clubs in Ferndale, frequented by the LGBTQ+ community, and the Cedar Point amusement park, according to court records.
The motive of this whole thing was inspired by the Islamic State, and with the goal of carrying out a mass shooting or similar attacks in the United States. Later in the year, they purchased several high-powered firearms and accessories. They later purchased 1,600 rounds of ammunition before practicing with the firearms at a shooting range, most likely preparing for the terror plot. The weapons they used are called AR-15 style rifles, shotguns, and handguns, along with over 1,600 rounds of ammunition and accessories. FBI Director Kash Patel announced the arrest and thanked some Police and law enforcement: “This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend. Thanks to the men and women of FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland.”
