At a modest 5’5″, a star who orchestrates with an empowering influence all over the court, Emme Vornlocker earned nothing but praise following her receiving the award of Athlete of the Month for February. A Manville High senior, Emme has done her fair share not only on the court, but also on the softball field. Her accomplishment as Athlete of the Month not only highlights her incredible attitude on the court, but also her success throughout such a competitive month for athletes of all sorts of winter sports.

Emme recognizes the importance of her role in the squad, and while she doesn’t feel she may be the best player on the court, she definitely contributes to the game. “I’m not like the best player at all, but I consider myself a good role model and a good leader and I think that’s what helps me get recognized… I think I consider myself to have a good work ethic, I make sure I’m at every single practice and encourage everyone to work hard and give your best when you’re practicing.”

While obviously proud of earning such a competitive title, it was an unexpected one for her. “I was surprised because you know, I’m not the most athletic… but I feel like my positive attitude was recognized and I’m pretty supportive, I always want to see my teammates do the best. I am surprised though.”

Representing both basketball and softball, Emme had to credit not only her work ethic, but there was also praise for her coaches, who she acknowledges as the people that push her as an athlete. “I have a pretty good relationship with both of my coaches, both of them have very different coaching methods… both want to just see you do your best, so I’d say I have a good relationship with the both of them.”

There’s no doubt that February was filled with highlights and all sorts of accomplishments set by athletes in all different sports, so Emme’s work ethic in training, positivity, and leadership on the court was definitely recognized. We congratulate her on representing the Manville Mustang’s as our star athlete for February, and wish her luck in her final season of softball!
