Some changes such as droughts, wildfires, and extreme rainfall are happening faster than scientists previously assessed. In fact, the United Nations body was established to assess the science related to climate change. Modern humans have never before seen the observed changes in our global climate.
“The magnitude and rate of climate change and associated risks depend strongly on near-term mitigation and adaptation actions, and projected adverse impacts and related losses and damages escalate with every increment of global warming” – Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
The severity of effects caused by climate change will depend on the path of future human activities. More greenhouse gasses will lead to more climate dangers and will cause more damage to different areas around the world. This also means that those future effects depend on the total amount of greenhouse gasses we release into the atmosphere. Therefore, if we reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we can avoid non-reversible damage to our planet. “The scientific evidence is unequivocal: climate change is a threat to human wellbeing and the health of the planet. Any further delay in concerted global action will miss the brief, rapidly closing window to secure a liveable future.” – Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
The world is changing at a fast pace. More and more information on the world is spreading quickly. A big deal is the glaciers melting, causing the polar bears to have no place to live or hunt from; that also means that they have no place to raise their cubs. If they have no place to hunt, live, or raise the next generation, they are going to go extinct a lot faster than anyone can anticipate. We need polar bears because they help balance out the ecosystem and the way everything works. They stabilize the seals by hunting them so the amount of seals do not get out of hand. They stabilize a very delicate ecosystem; it is so delicate that if one thing dies off and or goes extinct, the whole food chain and ecosystem will fall with it.
