It has been 100 days, or 3 months, since Nancy Guthrie went missing. She was reported missing on February 1st, 2026. DNA that could lead to finding her abductor is being evaluated in Quantico, Virginia. They have not yet confirmed where the sample was found.
“An item containing DNA such as a strand of hair found somewhere in a house is one thing, but a strand of hair near the victim’s last known location, such as in her bed, would be a high priority for the FBI,” said Lance Leising, a previous FBI supervisory special agent in Arizona. Detectives are hopeful a new lead will reveal itself.
On Mother’s Day, Savannah shared an instagram post about Nancy. It says, “…we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.” The post also included sentimental videos and photos of Guthrie and her family.
More than half a million people are reported missing each year. Guthrie’s case is one of the most closely watched missing-persons cases. However, thousands of tips have led to dead ends.
Fortunately, a human bone was found near Guthrie’s house, but investigators do not think it is connected to her case. “We do not have any reason to believe right now that this is a criminal investigation,” says Beau Wilson. There is a $100,000 reward for Guthrie’s recovery or an arrest.
