A 55 year old Michigan woman, Lynette Hooker, was reported missing on April, 4th, 2026, from allegedly falling overboard while sailing with her husband, Brian Hooker, in the Elbow Cay in the Albanco Islands of the Bahamas.
Brian Hooker had claimed that, due to “rough, dark conditions” while returning to her anchored yacht with him, she had fallen overboard along with the engine lanyard/keys, leaving him unable to operate the boat, forcing him to paddle for hours alone. Resulting in a shift from rescue to a recovery mission.
After Mr. Hooker was pulled into questioning, the police were skeptical about his story and extended his time in custody, treating him as a potential suspect despite his release without any charges. The family of Lynette Hooker was also skeptical about the situation, specifically when Brian had said, “The wind blew me away from her and she swam towards the boat.” The family had said, “our family is in hell right now.”
One of the family members mentioned, “There’s history of him choking her and threatening to throw her overboard, there might be more to the story.” A family friend said, “I just want to know the truth. Then when it came out that he was arrested, I was completely shocked.” Many close friends of the family do hope the family is doing okay and that Lynette Hooker gets the justice she deserves.
