Is hantavirus going to cause a pandemic?
This chaos started in a cruise which originally departed from Argentina in April. The first victim was a 70 year old man; health authorities suspected he got this from rodents on their bird watching trip in Argentina on April 6th and tragically passed away on April 11th. Later on, his wife also contracted the virus, but it hasn’t been said if she passed away or not. The passengers landed in Spain. It has been stated that New Mexico was the first state to be affected in 1993; this being said proves that Hantavirus has been around for a while.
Where have we been getting our information and updates from? A guy on the cruise ship whose identity has yet not been exposed. He’s been posting TikToks, updating everybody about what’s happening and what to worry about, although many people thought he was trolling because he was so calmed. It was later proved to be true.
Through the whole cruise, things have been crazy for everybody on it: a woman escaping the cruise; getting a plane full of people, and, hours after landing, unfortunately dying; a man running off who still hasn’t been found; and everybody who has been in contact or was on the cruise having to quarantine in a country they’re not from and having no family with them.
“Should you be worried?” is the real question everybody is dying to ask. Health authorities have stated that “Hantavirus is nothing like covid.” It’s been stated and proved that Hantavirus has been around for a while and people have contracted this before. Professionals also state that the risk of this becoming a real global pandemic is really low, although Hantavirus is spreading quicker than expected for no known reason.
What is Hantavirus? It’s a family of viruses combined together. It attacks the lungs and gives you a haemorrhagic fever; it’s also named after the Hantan River in South Korea, where a family came to contact in 1978 and was quarantined.
Later updates have not been disclosed.
