A severe storm sparked a wire that caught on fire, ripping through Somerset NJ. The strong storm had the local Somerset police and fire department work throughout the night because of the many uprooted trees, road closures, trees falling onto houses, power outages, and crazy wind speeds. Hundreds of people were left with no power, and there’s still 7% of people with no power to this day.
To be more specific, there are 15 homes and businesses without power in Somerset County. Not only are there some civilians with no power, but there’s also residents who are still experiencing issues even though it’s been two weeks or more since the storm. A lot of people at the time thought that this recent storm was going to end up like the “Flash Flood” or the crazy flood that hit Manville, NJ and around that area in September 2021.
Overall, this flood wasn’t bad for a lot of people, only the ones that woke up with a tree stuck in their houses. This storm was pretty strong mainly because of the strong wind that had everything going everywhere, and also for the fact that the trees were uprooted and the power went out for many. Lastly, for the fire sparks, the department safely told everyone to not go near any downed power lines.
