The Austin mass shooting is rumored to have been motivated by the Iran strikes. The suspected perpetrator, who is now known as the shooter, was wearing a shirt with an Iranian flag design on it underneath a hoodie which had “Property of Allah” printed on it. Diagne is the man who caused the mass shooting in Austin, Texas.
Police officers first received a call about a man shooting out of a large SUV outside of Buford’s Beer Garden.
“At one point, he put his flashers on, rolled down his window, striking patrons of the bar that were on the patio and that were in front of the bar,” CNN News stated. Diagne did not have a known specific motive other than to harm innocent and ordinary people. Due to these actions, two innocent people lost their lives and 14 more were injured; the police have not released the ages or names of the people harmed or murdered.
Officials have said very little about the incident and the victims harmed by Diagne.
“Obviously, it’s still way too early in the process to determine an exact motivation, but there were indicators on the subject and then his vehicle that indicate a potential nexus to terrorism,” says another quote from CNN News.
“Our suspect was coming toward East Austin or East Sixth Street, officers were coming towards him, and at the intersection, he was shot and he was killed,” one of the officers answering the interview for CNN News reported. Unfortunately, we will never truly know the motive as Diagne was murdered in the intersection by officers on the scene.
Diagne entered the United States on March 13, 2000. He was originally from Senegal before he came to the U.S. on a B-2 tourist visa. In 2006, he changed his stay to lawful permanent resident due to his marriage to a U.S. citizen. When he originally came to America, he lived in New York, but, over the years, he slowly started to move towards Texas. In 2022, Diagne was arrested in Texas for collision with vehicle damage, which resulted as a misdemeanor offense.
