Compassion in Action is a brand new club coming to Manville High School! Compassion in Action is a do-good club that prioritizes giving back to the community and spreading positivity. Compassion in Action was created when a student wanted to start a club at Manville High School that focused solely on community service and doing positive things for people in the community. In the club, there will be community service opportunities and other activities that promote kindness; and, if doing good for goodness’ sake isn’t enough, it can also help with resume building.
The goal of Compassion in Action is to bring more positivity to the Manville community through acts of kindness. Some activities that the club may consist of are, but are not limited to, making cards for local hospitals or nursing homes, putting together gift baskets for those in need during the holidays, hosting food drives for the local shelter, hosting blood drives, and making “Thank You” and positive and uplifting cards for our town’s healthcare workers, police, firefighters, crossing guards, and more!
Compassion in Action will hold an interest meeting next week, on Friday, February 13th, in the Media Center during Second FLEX. If you are interested in spreading positivity and giving back to the community through acts of kindness, compassion, and community service, you should consider attending the interest meeting and joining Compassion in Action! If you have any questions about the club or would like more information, you can contact Ms. Gentile, Manville High School’s College and Career Counselor, at [email protected].
So, What’s Next?
Hopefully, Compassion in Action will host a blood drive in the near future. The blood supply in the United States has decreased by 35% within the last month, leading to the American Red Cross declaring a national blood shortage. This is mostly due to the harsh flu season that the United States has been having. Blood is essential for all sorts of things, like surgeries, trauma cases, and people who have a blood-related illness. By hosting a blood drive and donating blood, Compassion in Action hopes to help these areas of need!
Compassion in Action is expected to host a bake sale on Thursday, February 19th and Friday, February 20th. However, these plans are not yet set in stone and are subject to change, but more information and details will be supplied soon!
