Governor Phil Murphy recently announced a $161 million funding towards Municipal Aid for over 96% of New Jersey’s states and towns. The money will be distributed among 542 of the 565 municipalities (related to a city or town or its governing body) of New Jersey’s state. The program provides the cities or towns with funds for transportation or related topics.

Murphy stated after the funding of the Municipal Aid program, there will be significant improvements on, roads, bridges, public safety, and the quality of life.

“Our administration sought to deliver a fairer approach to how government does business and this round of grants will, in the third straight year, reach more municipalities than in the previous fiscal year,” Murphy stated, which he explained to wanting to regulate government business and increase the amount of municipal’s affected then in the fiscal year (a year that’s reckoned for taxing or accounting purposes).

According to the press’s release, the announcement of 2020 grants that the New Jersey Department of Transportation will have been awarded over $1.2 billion to local government agencies since the start of Murphy’s administration. That, along with NJDOT’s new Local Aid Resource Center, is making a difference by providing resources for municipalities to improve safety and more reliable sources of transportation.
