In Chicago, around 200 people protested at the Plaza, across from the city hall. People met there with speakers and started chants to get the government’s attention to demonstrate the current “climate emergency.” On Monday evening, October 7, 2019, the young people dressed in black with red paint on their arms stating, “climate emergency.” They followed through with an 11 minute “die in.” This was when everyone laid on the ground for 11 minutes not only protesting in the climate change, but also for the supposedly 11 years that we have left on earth before everything goes downhill. This event overall took 4 hours and only one man was arrested in which he later rejoined the group that night. Protestors stated that they would like the Mayor Lightfoot to declare this, “Climate Emergency” in an attempt to save the planet before it is too late.

The real question is, after this protest, what is the government going to do? Well, with very little information the answer to that is yet to come but others wonder what are they going to do in the future? Are there going to be more rallies? Will more people get arrested for these protests? What is going to happen to our planet if we don’t make a change? All of these are waiting to be answered but really, who is going to come to the rescue?
