Four of our very own Manville High School Wrestlers made it to regions. Brandon Flores, Shane Lallkissoon, Jack Lombardino, and Alex Abarca faced their opponents at Franklin High School for a top four spot on Friday, February 22nd, and Saturday the 23rd to to make it to states.

On Friday evening, three of the four wrestlers were up. Flores, Lallkissoon, and Lombardino fought for their spots in states. Brandon Flores lost by four points in the first round. However, he ended his season winning 27 matches, setting a new freshmen record at Manville High. Lallkissoon lost by eight in the first round as well, but wrapped up his season with 33 wins. This places him in the top 10 for wins in Manville history. Jack Lombardino was pinned in the first round, eliminating him. Although, Jack did finish strong with 24 wins. Unfortunately, the three Mustangs did not classify and were unable to move up.

On Saturday evening, Manville’s last region qualifier, Alex Abarca was due to wrestle. Being a district champ, Abarca was coming off a bye, meaning he was able to skip over the first rounds in regions, automatically qualifying for the second round. Abarca did win his first match. However, he lost his second match, leaving him out of states. This left Abarca to take fifth place by beating an opponent he had wrestled earlier in the season.

The Manville Wrestlers suffered tough losses, but will be back next season. Although, they were unable to qualify to states, they left the 2018-19 season making it to regions which is an accomplishment.
