George Foreman was an Olympic Athlete in boxing, and his fame grew to be known across the whole world. He is seen as one of the best of the best because of his reach and height. His nickname was known in the boxing community, and his achievements not only in boxing but in life itself are something out of the ordinary- that not an average joe would be able to do.
George was born in Marshall, Texas, and was known in his past to be a hard thug. He was known to fight kids back in his time; he was put in a program to help put himself from violence to boxing. This had helped George control his anger and to put it out on the big sport itself- it controlled what he dealt with out of the ring. At the age of 19, George signed up for Olympic Boxing and was able to gain himself his very own gold medal. This achievement marked his first rise to fame and set sounds across the world of a new upcoming star. He had also fought boxing icons Joe Frazier and Muhammed Ali. He won the boxing title against Joe Frazier back in ‘73 and lost it the next year against the great Ali. His record was 78-68-3, with only 10 fights not being won by knockout.
After retiring from boxing only 4 years after the Ali fight, he had encountered God and turned to Christianity. He had become a devout Christian after having an encounter with God and had become a Pastor soon after, preaching for the Church of The Lord Jesus Christ in 1980.
Only 14 years later, he had come out of retirement to fight WBO and IBF heavyweight champion, Michael Moorer. He became the oldest boxer to win a championship at age 45; he is still seen as one of the greatest fighters in history, and we all send condolences to the family themselves.
