Winter track races have begun at Staten Island. The Manville High School team headed to the County Championships on January 3 in high spirits ready to rock the meet. They have been rearing to go since practice started at the end of November. Between the distance, the sprinters, and the throwers the Manville Mustangs are ready to rock the competition.

For a first race, this meet was an amazing baseline of what to expect from the Winter Mustangs. With 31 events to compete in, the highlights were the Girls 4000 meter Medley. The four girls in this event were Anna Kontos, Siobhan Wesolowski, Natalia Musielak, and Molly Weber. They came in at a total of 16 minutes and 36 seconds. The boys competed in the boy’s 4000 meter Medley. The race was ran by Ronaldo Gamarra, Volker Tay, Paul Kanyuch, and Colin Weber in 12 minutes and 13 seconds.

As of now, their next meet is on January 30th at Lehigh for the Skyland conference championships. I can’t wait to see the Mustangs back in action for Skyland.
