There’s a breeze in the air, pumpkin spice is taking over, and Halloween decorations are popping up. That’s right, the autumn season is officially here! It’s time to put away your summer bucket lists and bring out your fall ones. Here’s a list of 5 fun things to do this fall.

Leaf peeping: With all of the leaves turning orange, yellow, and red, it’s time to admire the fall foliage. Whether it’s traveling upstate to New York or west to Pennsylvania to see the beautiful scenery, simply taking a nice walk through Duke Farms or Colonial Park will allow you to see the fall colors. Photographing or just viewing, leaf peeping is a great way to appreciate Autumn. The best time to see fall foliage is the end of October into early November.

Apple Picking: Although this is a classic, it’s a great way to get out and spend time with family and friends. Most apple picking spots in New Jersey offer a lot more than just apples. Places may offer hayrides, pumpkin picking, a farmer’s market, baked goods, cider, etc. The best apples to pick are Braeburn, Granny Smith, and Cortland, while the best ones for baking are Jonagold. Some great apple picking spots in NJ are Melick’s Town Farm, Wightman Farms, and Mackey’s Orchard.

Scare Farms: With Halloween around the corner, scare farms are a perfect way to get spooked. Go to Norz Hill Farm to get in on the haunted fun! This farm offers The Slay Ride, Paranoia, and Creepy Hallow. The Slay Ride: A trip to the slay farm to meet the slay family. Paranoia: A walk through a cornfield planted on sacred burial grounds.
Creepy Hallow: Walk through the field Old Eli’ grew and harvested his gruesome crop. You don’t want to accidentally use a pumpkin used for baking since they’re smaller, have more guts, and are thicker. Carving pumpkins are thinner so it’s easier to cut into. Once you find the right pumpkin, the rest is up to your imagination.
