On May 24th, the Mustangs traveled to Franklin High School for the Somerset County meet. Many Mustangs looked forward to this meet, and the seniors on the team made this a county meet to remember. Senior, Jonathan Cox, stood out for Manville once again. He placed third place overall in the event long and triple jump. He jumped a total of 20 feet and 1.5 inches, a new personal record in long jump. He jumped a total of 41 feet 6 inches in triple jump, placing him in top 3 for both events. All seniors on the Mustangs knew that this was to be a memorable event as it very well could have been their last meet of their high school careers. 

The first event that the boys took place in was the 100 meter trial, Senior, Jonathan Cox, ran 12.38 seconds in the 100 meter, Juan Mercedes ran a 12.74, and Tay Volker ran a 13.02. The next event for the guys were the 110 meter hurdle trials. Senior, Jason Brennan, has been the only boy to run this event for the Mustangs; he ran it in 18.47 seconds. The next event called for the long distance boys a 1600 meter unseeded race, Gorge Thomson ran a 5:10.22m, Collin Weber ran a 4:59.64, a new personal record, and Todd Peterson ran a 5:31.74. Followed by his brother David Peterson in the 400 meter race, he ran in 61.11 seconds. The next event was the 800 meter race, Paul Kanyuch ran in 2:15.11, and senior Dylan Morris ran in 2:16.50 and Lucas ran in 2.21.07 seconds. The results for the field events came in; the first event was shot, Jayden Golden threw a 28 feet 6 inches, and senior Kenneth Ashford-Afful threw a 29 feet 11 inches. For disc, senior Kenneth Ashford-Afful threw 97 feet and 9 inches, senior Mykola Kunderevych threw 82 feet and 6 inches. 

The first event that took place for the girls was the 100 meter trial. Siobhan Wesolowski ran a 13.86 second 100 meter race. The next event for the girls was the 110 hurdle race. Senior, Destiny Garcia, ran a 18.73 second race, a new personal record for her. The next event was the longest event for the girls, the 1600 meter race unseeded. Senior, Megan Shimp, raced in 6 minutes and 30 seconds, and Stacy Morales ran the race in 7 minutes. The next event was the 800 meter race for the girls. Michelle Miga ran this in 2 minutes and 35 seconds, Jayla Wojtach ran it in 2 minutes and 49 seconds, a new personal record for her, and Natalia Musielek ran this race in 2 minutes and 57 seconds. The next race for the girls was the 200 meter race. Siobhan Wesolowski ran a 27.61 second race, and Emily Chey ran a 30.70 second race. The next events that took place for the girls in the field events were shot. Senior, Jackie Zuza, threw 23 feet and 7 inches, Caitlin Brennan threw 26 feet and 4 inches, a new personal record for her, and Emma Heywood threw 22 feet and 3 inches. The next event in field throws was disc; Jackie Zuza threw 78 feet and 6 inches, Emma Heywood threw 73 feet and 3 inches, a new personal record, and senior, Sara Colucci threw 70 feet and 4 inches, a new personal record. The last event that took place for the girls was javelin. Destiny Garcia threw 75 feet and 10 inches, and Jackie Zuza threw 55 feet and 4 inches.

This meet was a very well deserved meet for the individuals that went.  This year’s senior class made sure to show out for the County, and impress whoever was watching.
