The Day In The Life Of A Manville High School Student

Janiya Cox

Being a Manville High school student can be a stressful time and hard time in your life. Some students start their mornings by waking up at 6:30 A.M., while other students keep hitting  their snooze button on their phones before they finally feel like getting up at 7: 15 A.M.. But, if you are eating breakfast at school, you have to be up by 6:45 A.M. and out the door by 7: 25.  or you are going to miss breakfast. For the students who are not, they will make their way to the kitchen to eat breakfast. When they are finished eating, students will start to get ready for their day around 7:25 A.M.. When they are ready, they leave their houses at 7:30. They walk, get a ride, or drive themselves to school. It takes most students between 5 to 10 minutes to get to school so they can make it in time for first period.

Soon,  the students are starving and it’s time  for them to eat lunch. Lunches are 4th, 5th, and 6th periods starting at 10:29 A.M.. School ends at 2:35 P.M. for students. But for some students, the day is not over yet. They rush to the locker room to get ready for practice for a school sport until 5:30 while some others go to an after school club until 4:30.

Even though some other students don’t have to stay after school, this doesn’t mean they’re done for the day. They’re either picking their little siblings up from school or rushing home to get ready for work having to be there by 3:30. Typically, when students arrive at home after work it is now 5:00 P.M. and it is time to start their homework.

At 6:00 P.M. some of the students are finished with their homework and head back to the kitchen for the second time that day to have dinner.  When they are finished, it is around 7:00 P.M. and they start to get ready for the next long day at school. When that is accomplished, it can already be 9:00 and they get to relax for the rest of the night by going on their phones or watching TV until they start to fall asleep at 11:00 P.M..

Even though Manville students have a lot on their plates, they know how to balance themselves between school, work, extra curriculars, and free time.
