Prom is a formal dance, typically held in late spring, that marks a significant milestone in the lives of high school students. It’s a celebration and send-off for graduating seniors and juniors that are going to become seniors next year, often considered a rite of passage. Proms involve formal attire, often including dresses and tuxedos, and are characterized by dancing, music, and sometimes a post-prom party. This year Manville was on Thursday, May 29, 2025. To be able to come to prom, students had to come to school the day of prom but were allowed to leave early at 11:30AM to be able to get ready and have time to get everything done. Students also had to come back to the school at around 5:00 and left in 5PM different buses at around 5:15PM, and they will be returning back at around 10:00PM. The winners for Junior Prince and Princess this year were Jayden Watson and Adrianna Gorbatuch, while the winners for Senior King and Queen were Aiden Potts and Nicole Cordero.
A popular opinion from many people was that the only bad thing about prom this year was that it felt a lot shorter this year, and that the DJ wasn’t playing any of the music that was put in the prom playlist, but other than that, everything else was really good. The food was really good this year, and it had a lot of different options you could choose from; some of these options were penne alla vodka, BBQ pork ribs, caesar salad, teriyaki chicken, and a lot more of different options that anyone could enjoy.
The venue this year was also really beautiful with a lot of places to take good pictures.
In the beginning, when we first got there, they gave us about an hour to go outside and take pictures or to wait inside and have small appetizers like mozzarella sticks and small empanadas. After waiting for about an hour, we were told that we were able to go into the big room and find our table with the group you were supposed to sit with. In these tables, you got a small welcome bag with a lot of candy and a thank you card from all the staff members. After sitting down for about 30 minutes, they started calling table numbers up for food and while some tables were getting food other tables were going to the photo booth to take pictures.
When most people were done eating, the DJ put on a few songs to get people dancing, and, about 5 minutes later, almost everybody was on the dance floor for the rest of the night until they announced Junior Prince and Princess (Jayden Watson and Adrianna Gorbatuch) and Senior King and Queen (Aiden Potts and Nicole Cordero). After they were announced, the DJ played about 5 more songs, and that’s how we ended the night. Overall, prom was really good this year, but there were some things that need to be better for next year, like the time management and transportation. They also need to have more food options, like chicken tenders and fries, for the people that don’t really eat the kind of food that was given.
