The Unexplained series has released a new episode titled “History of Satanic Encounters,” where William Shatner, introduces us into a deep dive of the question: ‘does the devil exist or he does he not?’ The doubt has lingered now long enough, and, along with William Shatner, the episode reviews historical events that answer this question many people have made to themselves.
Around the eighth and ninth century, we begin to see depictions of the devil in all sorts of forms, including statues, art, and in churches. The devil was always depicted as this evil black or red monstrosity that emerges from the depths of hell to torment human kind. One of the most influential spiritual leaders of this world, Pope Francis, stated, “It would be a mistake to believe the devil isn’t real,” placing an emphatic emphasis on the question of whether the devil is real or not.
Centuries before us biblically and historically in the town of Jerusalem, Israel, people have worshiped and sacrificed to the devil himself, such as in towns like Henom. “Henom” in English translation today means “Hell” in the Hebrew language. These sacrifices included killing their first born males to offer over to these supposed ‘gods’ they worshipped. People believed that if they didn’t offer these sacrifices to these ‘demonic gods’ their crops wouldn’t grow or punishment would come down upon them, which instilled fear in them.
There lies a city in China which is supposedly a portal for the devil to come and go as he pleases. In the high mountains of Central China, lying beside the Yangtze river, is a complex of temples and shrines known as “Fengdu Ghost City.” This city is known to be where the underworld and our world meet. To enter this city, you have to enter a gate with the shape of a demon, and you have to enter its mouth to proceed. This city was created during the Han Dynasty around the year 200 AD. Chinese conception created the temple to represent the judgement and the sentence that could come from your actions. The city is open to the public to “incite people to live more moral lives,” according to Dominic Steavu, Professor of UC Santa Barbara. This city is only one of the places across the world that serve as gateways for these demonic beings that come from the underworld.
The research, evidence, and historical data furthermore proves the existence of demons to these professors, archeologists, etc… but it begs the question: “if there’s proof of a devil there must be proof of a God, right?” Without a God there’s no devil, so it leaves the undeniable reality God does exist and the bible is the only weapon that can destroy this evil creature along with his minions that have come to torment us. This was the viewpoint left behind by certain scholars and creators on this television show.
