The Forensics Club is hosting a bake sale in the morning and after school during Valentine’s week in front of the gym lobby to pay off memberships and entry fees for their tournaments. The advertisement was spread on the club’s Instagram and also on flyers around the school. The members had prepared the baked goods during their free time, which is greatly appreciated by the club, considering all the time, effort, and financial contributions they have made.
Lauren, who is the president of Forensics Club, and Zairabella, a fellow club member, contributed to the bake sale by baking cake pops. Trey and Antimo, other members of the club, had baked cookies that sold plentifully. The vice president of the club, Maddox, contributed by baking brownies that sold out in no time. While there were a handful of students who baked for the event, there were also those who were selling in the mornings and after school. This year, the sale was the club’s first step towards fundraising for the team.
Despite the baked goods being limited in its quantities, the brownies were sold out in no time throughout the week, only costing $2. However, the cake pops, costing $3, and the cookies, costing only $1, didn’t sell quite as well.
The idea for the fundraiser, stemming from Lauren and Zairabella, had a good outcome considering they made a large amount of money in one week, selling for about 10 mins each day. Hence, the startup cost wasn’t anything special- just a poster of item prices and a table with a side of great entrepreneurs. However, the financial decisions were hard, as some members needed to buy ingredients for the baked goods because the fundraising fund couldn’t even cover it. In the future, there will be more bake sales and other fundraisers to support the club.
“We didn’t reach the goal, but we aren’t done yet; we are going to continue it a little longer. It was overall easy once we figured out what was all going on,” said Lauren.
