As the dust settles after homecoming, mixed reviews come in after the event. The event lasted about 2 ½ hours, with approximately 150 students, from different grades. Students dressed in proper attire and arrived at around 7pm, ready to experience Manville High School’s 2024 Homecoming.
The event was decorated formally, with streamers, lights, and balloons all around the cafeteria. Music was playing to set the mood of the fun and lighthearted atmosphere. One of the participants was interviewed, and they gave a short run down on her personal experience of the night. She said, “I was ten minutes late because I lost track of time. But even with only ten minutes, the cafeteria was packed with kids. The lights were set for the event and the music was blasting. Groups with kids have already formed, separating friend groups from friend groups.” She smiles in memory and then continues, “I had a lot of fun with my friends. The music this year wasn’t half bad, even though I am particularly picky with music in general. I overall enjoyed the event!” That positive review cast a bright light on this year’s homecoming.
Another person was interviewed, who did not attend. They said, “I didn’t go to Homecoming because it was too claustrophobic for me last year. Because of its location, I was all hot and sweaty and uncomfortable, and like, I didn’t wanna stay for more than an hour. But even with all that, last year was fun, and I didn’t want to go again this year and trump the memory of last year.”
These stories are shining examples on how the enjoyment of Homecoming is all subjective. Different people bring different perspectives. Overall, I heard positive things for this year’s Homecoming, And I can’t wait to see what they do for it next year.
