It was assumed that Queen Elizabeth II died of old age, but is that really what happened? On October 2nd, Boris Johnson, the former Prime Minister of the UK, stated that the Queen actually died due to bone cancer. This information is in Johnson’s memoir that has yet to be released. The information about the Queen is spreading around England because the Daily Mail newspaper added a column about the Queen’s health from Johnson’s memoir. A lot of people are in disbelief of the news, which is expected, since the death certificate that was published after the Queen’s passing said that the cause of death was old age. Most are wondering why and how they didn’t know the truth sooner, especially since Queen Elizabeth II was fighting bone cancer for about a year before her passing. So, why didn’t people know?
The Royal Family rarely shares their personal information for safety and privacy reasons. Out of respect, no government official has shared personal information about the Royal Family until now. It is an unusual thing for Boris Johnson to come out and share news about the queen, especially because it was being hidden so well. Besides some bruising around her hands, Johnson claimed that she was still acting perfectly normal, as if nothing was going on. “Her mind… was completely unimpaired,” he writes. “She still flashed that great white smile in its sudden mood-lifting beauty,” says the CBS News Article.
This is not the only time the Royal Family’s personal business has been told to the public. King Charles III, Queen Elizabeth II’s son and now the King of England, revealed that he, himself, is going through cancer treatment. This encouraged the Princess of Wales to open up to the public about her cancer journey. Fortunately, she has completed her treatment and is on her way to heal physically and mentally. In some ways, putting this information about Queen Elizabeth II’s bone cancer was helpful to others, but it was also sad that the people of England were lied to for such a long time.
