On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the Russian political party had a meeting about funding where the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, announced that they will not continue to fund the small country of Abkhazeti,which belonged to Georgia until the Russians took it in 1992. While there were speculations of the Russian Government using propaganda and false accusations to win over the Abkhazeti people, Russia stated that they were freeing the people of Abkhazeti from Georgia. Georgians are furious due to the fact that Russia has kept that land for more than 30 years, killing hundreds in the war of Abkhazeti in June of 1992. Now, Russia decided to return it since they don’t want it anymore. There have been meetings with the Georgian government about this matter but no information has been sent out on the matter.
Is Russia really planning on returning Abkhazeti to Georgia or is this all a big joke?
