As the 2023-24 school year is coming to an end, the seniors are preparing for what they will be doing after graduation. Many of them were asked questions about their high school experience, their future plans, and their advice to incoming freshmen and seniors.
The most common advice the seniors said they would give to the incoming freshman was for them to focus on themselves and to not be so worried about fitting in. They tell freshmen to live up high school while they still can, because it all goes by so fast. One of the seniors said, “I would say be yourself, don’t try to conform to others and stay true to your morals.”
When it came to advice to give to the upcoming seniors, many said to not waste any opportunities and keep working hard, as it is the last year of high school. One of the seniors warned, “Take it all in, it flies by so fast.” Many said that the incoming seniors should focus on just getting their work done as it comes.
Senioritis; a supposed affliction of students in their final year of high school or college, characterized by a decline in motivation or performance. Many of the seniors are pushing themselves to just get to the end of the year. Seniors are struggling to keep going, knowing there is so little time left in their high school careers.
When asked about their thoughts and opinions on leaving high school, the seniors were at a split decision of not wanting to leave and being excited for the future. Two students both made comments about their excitement for new beginnings and starting a new chapter in their life.
Most of the seniors gave positive feedback when asked about their experiences in Manville. One student said, “I’ve maintained so many relationships that I plan to keep after I graduate. The staff has also been incredible to me and that is a huge reason why I loved being here.” Another student commented, “My experience at Manville has taught me to be myself and that all your hard work will be rewarded.”
The majority of the seniors graduating this year plan to go to college, and have said the Manville School District has helped them get to that point. A senior made the statement, “The biggest thing Manville gave me was the ability to recognize my musical talents. Because of the wonderful staff, music department, choirs, musicals I realized music and theater is something I never want to let go of. It’s because of my experiences and the music department that I realized that is what I want to pursue in my life as a career.” A lot of the students at Manville High School appreciate the good times they have had here, and the knowledge they’ve gained.
Goodbye and good luck to the class of 2024! You will be missed!
