The fate of Ukraine is looking grim after a long and grueling war.
General Sir Richard Barrons stated, “There is a serious risk of Ukraine losing the war this year.” Russia has had the upper hand the entirety
of the war. They have strength in numbers, but, not only that, they also have much better weapons and a stronger military. Ukraine can continue to fight the good fight, but how much longer can they withstand this battle is the real question.
Ammunition, troops, and air defense are running dangerously low as Russia continues to attack the smaller country. Russia is no longer on the offensive, general Barrons stated, but they are backing off the front line as they have a “5 to 1” advantage. Barrons anticipates a big push from the Russian forces; if this happens Russia could have a huge opportunity to break through and take control of some of Ukraine. Russia advanced through a large amount of the eastern fronts in Ukraine. Ukraine has only one real advantage, and that is its leaders. They are far superior to those of the Russian leaders. They have much more experience and better strategy. But Russia has such high numbers, so it is very difficult to make this leadership effective.
Despite Ukraine’s tough efforts to continue the fight against Russia, the battle may be coming to an end. Russia continues to try and advance on Ukraine and take major cities bordering the line. They are not short on resources and will continue to push for what they want to take. All Ukraine can do is continue what they have done: fight for what is theirs.
