ILLIT, a South Korean girl group, debuted their first single “Magnetic,” which reached on the Billboard’s Hot 100.
ILLIT was formed by a sub-label of Hyde Corporation, named BELIFT
Lab, which is also known for forming the group ENHYEN in 2020. Back in 2023, ILLIT was
formed by BELIFT Lab through a Korean JTBC reality survival competition show, “R U Next?”, a
show that was aimed to create the agency’s next girl group. The meaning behind the group
name is from the phrase “I Will Be It.” The five group members of ILLIT are Moka, Wonhee,
Iroha, Yunah, and Minju.
“Magnetic” was No. 1 on Billboard’s South Korean songs, Singapore songs, Taiwan songs, and
Hong Kong song charts. When their debut single was released internationally, it ranked No.3 on
Billboard Global Excl. US. chart only a week after the debut single reached No. 2 and raised to
8-6 on the Billboard Global 200.
On ILLIT’s debut four-track EP, “Super Real Me”, which released on March 25, “Magnetic” was the main single.
It does stand at No.6 on the World Albums chart after it
reached No. 5, which was a week earlier this became ILLIT’s first overall chart entry earlier this
month.
According to Luminate, in the April 20-dated Hot 100, the act’s “Magnetic” debut was No. 91
with 6.2 million official U.S. streams, that are up 1%, and 248,000 radio audience impressions, up
by 43% through April 5-11.
In March, ILLIT became the second K-pop group to be on the Hot 100 in 2024, after another
group named “LE SSERAFIM,” with their song “Easy.” ILLIT became the ninth K-pop group to be
on the Hot 100 after Wonder Girls, BTS, BLACKPINK, TWICE, Newjeans, FIFTY FIFTY, Stray
Kids, and LE SSERAFIM.
