Manville High School had a fundraiser on March 25, 2024.
Coaches often have to spend their own money on equipment that the school cannot provide. This fundraising is to make the money for each spring sport to be able to acquire their needed equipment, with money coming from the school and not the coaches.
Each spring sport, consisting of baseball, softball, track, and golf, has a goal for the money they need to raise in order to win a prize. For softball and baseball, the person who raises the most money has an option of winning either a custom glove or a pair of Oakley sunglasses. For track, the person would get Oakley sunglasses or a jacket, and golf wins the sunglasses or better equipment.
A track runner from MHS, Dachi Darchiashvili, has raised $150 with a $600 goal. He stated, “I think this fundraiser is a good way for the spring sports to get new equipment.” Additionally, the newly brought back golf team has the chance of getting brand new equipment. This will help them in their season. The softball team is in need of the money raised, as their uniforms’ pants are too short, and especially because of how expensive softball equipment is. A bat ranges from $70-$500 and the cleats alone can be over $100.
Next time you have the option, donate to the school sports teams to help raise money!
