Manville High School announced senior Genesis Murillo as the February Student of the Month!
Murillo states, “It is an honor for my academics and dedication to be recognized by teachers and staff.” She believes that she has put her best efforts into all that she does, therefore she is so grateful to receive this award. She would like to thank everyone at MHS who has allowed her to and guided her down the right paths to being successful. The advice and encouragement she has received during the last four years will never be forgotten; and most of her resilience came as a reminder that she has a purpose.
Her favorite memories at MHS come from her friend group, which she says is the best she could’ve asked for: “Sticking with the same close knit group of people after so many years has made high school sweeter knowing I’ve found a second family, even if they did accidentally break my nose playing volleyball in gym class.”
Her favorite subject is science, as she is fascinated with the fact that there is always something out there waiting to be discovered. The complexity of the subject has captivated her attention from a young age. Outside of academics, Genesis is co-president of the class of 2024, co-vice-president of National Honor Society, Secretary of the International Club, and a member of Student Council and GSA.
Outside of school, Genesis spends a lot of time with her friends and family, especially with her older brothers who visit every weekend; they typically do sleepovers and movie nights. Genesis looks forward to these hangouts, which are the best way to end the week for her. Genesis loves listening to music, especially piano covers, and she works at LJ’s Boardwork here in Manville during the good weather seasons.
Genesis plans on pursuing her undergraduate studies in molecular biology and genetics at a four year university, which Genesis will select once hearing all college decisions. We wish Genesis the best of luck during this time of the college process.
Once again, congratulations to Genesis Murillo on being selected as the February Student of the Month!
