As the conflict with Ukraine and Russia gets even worse, Ukraine is running out of supplies to defend itself. This has caused them to rely on other countries, such as Poland, Germany, France, and many other European countries. Now, the small country of Georgia has joined in on the fun. On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, the Georgian Ministry of Defense officially began to supply Ukraine with guns and equipment.
Georgia has recently announced this news at the recent E.U. meeting after finally being allowed to join the E.U. alliance in late 2023. Plans to send actual military troops are being decided by the Georgian government. Russia is not happy with this change, as Russia and Georgia have not had a good relationship throughout the years. Georgia left the Soviet Union in 1991, causing a mass tension between the two countries throughout the years.
Many people are against Georgia giving weapons and supplies to Ukraine, saying that they will eventually join the war and fight against Russia, as well. Russia also said that if the support has to be limited, or else Russia might enforce a blockade on Georgia and probably another invasion. So, could this lead to another Russia invasion, or is this all just a big scare so Georgia will back off?
