Can David Beckham’s team change the way America sees football?
For many years Major League Soccer, also known as the MLS, has been one of the
least watched soccer leagues. During the years, they have tried to get famous
players to get to play for the MLS in one of their teams. Some years they succeed,
but in some others they don’t. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappe, Haaland,
and even more require more than just a couple 20 million dollars a year to play for
a team. They are extremely good players, but they also have value.
Last year we saw a transfer no one thought would happen. Lionel Messi, the world
cup winner and the captain for Argentina, went to the MLS to play for David
Beckham’s team, Inter Miami. Not only did he stop there, he went and bought Jordi
Alba and Sergio Busquets during the months of October and November. All three
of these players played for Barca in their prime for over 6 years, and they have a
special connection, which, by the looks of it, hasn’t been lost, but, wait: there’s more.
Not only has Beckham bought these three players from Barca, he also bought Luiz
Suarez, who also played for Barca in his prime with Messi, Alba, and Busquets.
These four players have a special connection, and there is no doubt that Beckham is
going to win this year with his team and these four players.
Over the years, Inter Miami hasn’t been winning games; they have a bigger loss
streak than winning streak. They have been struggling for many years. There have
been moments where they even get relegated, meaning kicked out of the league,
because they can’t win games and don’t put competition in the league. If it wasn’t
for Messi transferring to Inter Miami and winning his first 5 games. Inter Miami
would be forever known as the team who devalued Messi a World Cup Winner
with 8 Ballon D’or.
