Manville High School may switch to a new bell schedule starting in the 2025-2026 school year, per Principal, Adam Wright.
“If we make this change, classes would be longer, but students would take fewer classes per day,” Wright said. “This allows more time for in-depth learning and fewer interruptions.”
Mr. Wright has led a similar transition in previous districts, which has led to positive results. He hopes to achieve the same at Manville.
Recently, a committee of staff of various content areas met with School Administration to review various bell scheduling options. The goal for this year would be to have committees of staff & students to determine what they believe is the most effective and appropriate for Manville.
The purpose of having these committee meetings is to allow them the opportunity to communicate directly with Mr. Wright about any concerns they have. Mr. Wright believes that the students will appreciate the benefits of potentially longer periods once they experience it.
Part of the implementation process would be to provide a year of professional development for teachers to plan how to teach for longer class periods. The 2025-2026 timeline allows appropriate time for this training.
