The Pittsburgh Steelers, a team apart of the NFL (National Football League), are under fire because a
starting safety, Demontae Kazee, had a suspension after an illegal hit. Steelers’ safety was suspended
Saturday night, Dec 15, 2023 with no pay, and is being held accountable after an illegal hit involving “repeated
violations” to the player safety system. Damontae Kazee will miss Pittburgh’s final three regular season
games and any potential playoff hopes if the Steelers advance to the postseason ahead of the season. This
all happened during the Steelers 30-13 loss against Indianapolis on Saturday after hitting diving the Colts’
wide receiver, Michael Pittman Jr. When reaching for a wide pass, Kazee makes contact with Pittman’s
head, resulting in Pittman being too injured to play and being pulled out of the game to enter concussion
protocol.

Kazee, a 7 year veteran, is taking major fines by the league this season, forfeiting around 208,000 dollars
this season to his salary by missing Pittsburgh’s last three games. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said in his
interview, “Doesn’t help me, help [Kazee] or football itself.” The suspensions means the Steelers will go
without both of their starting safeties against the Bangles.
