There are many different types of sickness; some are common and unharmful, while others

When China made the report of the mysterious illness after the numbers increased, Europe saw
a raise in Pneumonia cases in other countries. In the Netherlands, reported Pneumonia cases
rose between the age of group of 5 to 14. The Netherlands Institute for Health Services
Research (NIVEL) reports that pneumonia cases have increased from 130 per 100,000 children
in the week leading up to November 26. The Denmark’s Statens Serum Institut (SSI) reported a
spike of Pneumonia cases; the numbers rose more than threefold in only five weeks, from 168
now to 541. Hanne-Dorthe Emborg, a senior researcher at SSI, stated, “In the past five weeks,
the number of new cases has increased significantly, and we are now seeing significantly more
cases than usual, and that there is widespread infection throughout the country.” Some
countries took restrictive measures because of the fear of another pandemic beginning, like
Covid-19 back in January 2020.
The Chinese health authorities found the outbreak of Pneumonia could possibly be linked to a
certain type of Pneumonia called Mycoplasma Pneumonia, which is shown on the patches that
can light up on the chest radiographs of those affected by the illness. Mycoplasma Pneumonia
is also known as “walking pneumonia.” It is a common bacteria infection that usually affects
children. The Chinese health ministry stated, “There has been a rise in cases linked to viruses
such as influenza, rhinoviruses, the respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, the adenovirus, as well
as bacteria such as mycoplasma pneumonia.”
Many are questioning how the Pneumonia children cases are increasing in China.
Dr.Schaffner said, “Viruses create inflammation in the respiratory tract, and then the bacteria
which you are normally carrying back in your throat can take advantage of that, get through the
barrier of the mucus membrane, and get into the lung and cause pneumonia.”
