On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, a US Air Force V-22 Osprey crashed off
the coast of Japan, killing one, and leaving 3 crew members missing and
one confirmed dead. The US Air Force also asked that anybody who has
information on the missing crew members to reach out immediately. But so
far, a majority of the V-22 Osprey crew are lost at sea.
An investigation was launched on the Osprey crash by the FAA (Federal
Aviation Association) to figure out what happened to the Osprey. It was
later found that one of the V-22’s two engines were smoking and caught on
fire while flying over the coast of Japan.

So now the real question is: is the US military really doing something about
this problem with the Osprey? Because the Osprey has had many different
crashes in the past due to engine failure. For example, in 2013, an Australian
V-22 Osprey crashed into the Pacific Ocean, killing all 10 of the crew due to
the right engine malfunctioning, causing the aircraft to flip over. This begs
the question, should the US find a different aircraft to replace the V-22, or
should they fix the many problems it has right now?
