MHS Wrestling Impressive Start to the Season

Lucas Velando

The Mustangs strive to battle against Metuchen kicking off their first home meet of the season which occurred on 12/21. The odds of winning were on their side, but winning doesn’t mean just winning on the scoreboard. Winning in wrestling means winning on and off the mat, which requires effort. The Mustangs battled hard and came with the victory. In the 120-weight class, Nolan Antonio showed an amazing performance and captured bonus points by collecting a major (4 points at a time on the scoreboard) on his opponent. The scoreboard was 56-12 leading the Mustangs with a great first home dual meet of the season.

The 1/4 match against Belvidere was a night to remember. The energy of the crowd was against Manville since they were away and the scenery and atmosphere weren’t on their side, but that didn’t bother the Mustangs. Trip Freitag from Manville dropped a tough battle against his opponent 8-5. Marvin Valverde finished the night by securing a pin against his opponent. The Mustangs battled hard with an impressive win against Belvidere 64-6.

As of now, the Mustangs have an impressive record of 15-0!
