Justin Bamgboye

As the leaves turned red and brown and the cold temperature grew upon us, there was one town that continued to flourish despite the cold weather. This town was Manville, home of the mustangs. Throughout the month of October, all of the sports teams did exceptionally well in their events and they began to start states.

To begin, the soccer team started off the month of October with a bang. On October 1st, Manville Boys Varsity Soccer went against Rutgers Prep for the first round in the County Tournament. They were able to beat them 3-2 in overtime. They continued this win streak as they won against Henry Hudson and Belvidere in their next two games. In the month of October, the boy’s soccer team only lost 4 out of their 13 games. The boy’s soccer team was on a roll. During this month they won some big games. Some of these games consisted of games against Bound Brook (3-1), Roselle Park (4-0), and Warren Hills (2-1) on their Senior Night. The Soccer Boys have done phenomenal in the month of October.

Alongside the Soccer Boys, the Soccer Girls have done fairly well in October. They got two big wins: one against Irvington, beating them 7-0 and one against Dunellen in an 8-1 victory. The boys and girls soccer have done well in the month of October.

Moreover, Cross Country has done great this month too. Both boys and girls have been the first to cross the finish line. If there is anything to remember about Cross Country, remember they are champions. This season, the girl’s cross country team made history. For the first time in history, the girls have become Mountain Division Champions. Michelle Miga on October 28th was able to run a 19:44 against Bound Brook and South Hunterdon at Duke Island Park. The top three fastest girls are Michelle Miga, Anna Kontos, and Natalia Musielak. These three have shown great times in October. As for the boys cross country team has been exceptionally great in their races. For the most part, Colin Weber is always the first to cross the finish line. The boys are now looking forward to states and their upcoming race.

Finally, Football has been on the top of their game in October. Throughout this month they have had 5 games. In these 5 games, they were able to win 4 of the games. Their one loss was against Metuchen in a hard-fought game; the game ended in a 14-2 loss for Manville. On the bright side, the football team was able to beat Manville’s rivals, Bound Brook. They destroyed them in a 51-27 victory. Previous to this Bound Brook win, the Football team was on a 3-game win streak. The streak started off with a close win against Dayton. The game ended off with a score of 28-27. The second game was against Spotswood which ended 35-12. Finally, the third game was against Highland Park which they won 35-0. The football team has won 80% of their games in October and they plan to continue their triumph in states.

In conclusion, October has seen great events. All sports programs from Manville were overall great. The Boy’s soccer team starts states on November 1st against Woodbridge Academy. The Girl’s soccer team has their first game for states on November 2nd against Middlesex. Football has their game against Belvidere on November 4th. Cross Country has its sectional race on Saturday, November 6th. Wish the Manville’s Sports Programs luck in their future games!
