Manville Boys Soccer Senior Night Result

Ryan Rodriguez

The Manville Soccer boys went up against Warren Hills on their Senior Night, Tuesday, October 12, 2021, and came out victorious with a 2-1 win in double overtime. The boy’s Seniors would be Justin Bamgboye, Danny Vega, Mark Bueno, Jeryk Coto, and Ryan Rodriguez. I asked Justin Bamgboye what his realization and thoughts about his night, being a senior himself. He then said, “It still hasn’t hit me, but it’s like wow, I’m the senior now.” Nobody knew the time would go by so fast, but you don’t realize it when you’re having fun.

At the game, the team did their normal warm-ups and then the senior night ceremony. They called every senior and their parents names, where the seniors each gave their parents a flower and took a picture for their special day. The line-up of the Manville Boys Soccer team would remain the same as usual because the younger guys have stepped up and filled in the missing positions. The boys had beaten West Hampton 4-0 the day before their senior night so they felt hype and excited.

The first whistle blew and it’s war after that. In the 3rd minute of the first half, Jeryk Coto scored a corner, meaning he stood at the corner of the field and his shot curved into the net for a score!  However, shortly after Warren Hills levelled it up to 1-1. The boys had to keep hustling for the rest of the first half and the remainder of the second half since no one could score. The teams ended up going into double overtime where Ryan Rodriguez got a tap on the ball for Justin Bamgboye to go on to score the winning goal with his right foot, despite being a lefty! The Manville Soccer Boys all ran to Justin, hugged him and celebrated. It was chaotic when they were celebrating; it was such a trying, yet meaningful win that the soccer boys that graduated from previous years even jumped the fence and got hyped with the current soccer team. The Manville Boys Soccer Team showed great heart and showed that they will never give up despite any situation.
