Upcoming Mustang Basketball Season

Staff Writer

As the fall of the 2019 season is coming to an end, football players are handing in equipment, boys and girls soccer are hanging up their cleats, and cross country athletes are saying goodbye to the track. Winter is almost here, which is the start to the upcoming basketball season. The boys basketball team are coming off a 8-14 record from last year, but have improved over the summer. In the summer league,  MHS basketball participated in tournaments facing teams like Piscataway, Franklin, and the NJ Bulldogs. The Mustangs only lost last years senior, Gabriel Van Buren and are returning multiple starters such as Nasir Peek, Issaiah Ruiz, David Fabiyan, Logan Chaya, and Jason Brennen. The boys have arranged goals for them to accomplish for the upcoming season. “ This team is a championship team, the only way we are going to be a championship team is if we cut out our little mistakes that we make all the time,” said team captain Nasir Peek. Will the Mustangs get rid of their team errors in order to find them a spot in the playoffs? Their first game is scheduled for December 10 at home versus South River.
