They’re creepy and kooky, and all around one of the most beloved children’s movies of the Halloween season, it’s the Addams Family! This death loving family of 10 is coming back to the big screen this October as a family friendly cartoon, featuring favorites such as Wednesday, Pugsley, Gomez, Morticia, Lurch, and Grandma ,while also giving the spotlight to their extended family like Cousin Itt and their pet lion, Kitty Kat, and let’s not forget the infamous hand, Thing! 

The creators and marketing team to the movie have been promoting it through platforms, like twitter and instagram, not by making a movie profile, but a personal profile for Wednesday Addams as a way for her to “interact” with her fans, posting quotes like, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or in the hands of whomever is holding those eyes.” Recently, she has even posted a “Spooktacular” makeup tutorial on Youtube, featuring her lip and eye looks. 

Now, this is not the first Addams we’ve ever seen; the first ever version of this mysterious family came out in a series of comic panels in 1936 from The New Yorker, created by artist Charles “Chas” Addams. Then, in 1946, David Levy created the TV show that introduced the world to the everyday life of the family, with stars such as Carolyn Jones and John Astin. The show lasted until 1966 when it was cancelled, but was revived as the Addams Family FunHouse in 1973 featuring a new cast with stars Jack Riley and Liz Torres. 

In 1991, the movie, The Addams Family, us Gen Z-ers know and love, was released starring Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston. Fast forward for a short time, the TV show, The Addams Family: The Animated Series was released starting in 1992 and ending in 1993 leading to The Addams Family Values that was also released in late 1993. The Addams Family Reunion is a full length sitcom, starring Tim Curry and Daryl Hanna was released in 1998.  

12 years later, The Addams Family Musical, is released on Broadway starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth with fun songs and a love story that stole the hearts of everyone. Finally, we are in 2019 with a new movie, The Addams Family: The Animated Movie featuring Oscar Issac and Charliez Theron as well as Chloe Grace Mortez, Finn Wolfhard, Snoop Dog, and Bette Midler. The newest movie will be released on October 11th 2019. Have a hauntingly good time, we hope to see you there.
