New Bells Come to MHS

Jason Thompson

If you have been in MHS recently, you may have noticed a bit of change with the bells. The school has implemented a new bell system which has given students a bit of confusion when it is time to change classes. Mr. Voorhees, who has been aiding in the development of security aspects in the district communicated that the bells and phones were not working well and needed to be updated to meet state law.

It is not just the high school that made these improvements, it was all of the district including ABIS, Roosevelt, and Weston.

There are some students who are sensitive to this change explaining that the sound of the new bells  are too soft or sound weird. Many think they do not think they should have changed them in the first place. However, Mr. Voorhees stated that they did not have a choice regarding the sound of the bells.

He also said “ the district is growing and there are many other safety related projects in the works. We just received a grant from the State on NJ called Alyss’s law, to offset some of the cost for what we plan on doing district wide.”

The bottom line is, these new changes and advancements are all for the schools benefit and safety. People say, ‘nobody likes change,”however the changes coming to Manville look like they are going to be an improvement!
