NJ is Making Strides on the Legalization of Marijuana

Efforts to legalize the recreational and medication drug of marijuana has taken a major boost in New Jersey. The decision is most likely to be chosen and voted for by NJ voters. The house of House Judiciary Committee approved legalization that would end the ban on cannabis. “For far too long, we have treated marijuana as a criminal justice problem instead of a matter of personal choice and public health. Whatever one’s views on the use of marijuana for recreational or medicinal purposes, arresting, prosecuting, and incarcerating users at the federal level is unwise and unjust,” said the committee chairman, Rep. Jerrold Nadler. The vote ended up being 24-10. The following action would allow previous marijuana convictions to be expunged. The action of legalizing cannabis would lessen the arrest rates in New Jersey as well. As for the moment, New Jersey is still working on getting it 100% legalized, but it seems like NJ is making some strides.
